Homecoming 2024
Expect a great weekend with the Virginia Football Family.
We hope you'll come back, and bring a teammate or three with you.
Come on back!
Having worked, sacrificed, and competed for the University and your brothers as you did, you earned the right to call yourself a true Wahoo and a Football Alum. As such, bring yourself, your families, and your guests back this spring for a weekend of fun and camaraderie as we celebrate the past, present, and future of our program and this unique fraternity.
A lot of scouting, game planning, and practice is necessary in order to make this a great weekend for you—we'd love it if you come back!
1989 ACC Champions
The 1989 Virginia Cavaliers produced a season of superlatives. It was the first time the program had reached 10 wins in a season. With a 10-3 record, the squad shared a piece of the ACC championship, the University’s first in football. Along the way George Welsh became UVa’s all-time winningest coach.
The individual accolades were plentiful, as well. Senior defensive end Ray Savage made the 1989 Kodak All-America team. Ten Cavaliers were named either first or second team All-ACC. Additionally, junior quarterback Shawn Moore was tabbed the ACC Player of the Year, and Welsh was Coach of the Year.
This fall marks 35 years since that historic season. Come join us as we honor that squad for the work they did on the field, and the foundation they laid for the decades that followed.
“I felt like we started something here. I felt like I was part of history. Virginia and this team … it was like a family to me.”
— DE Ray Savage
